How it works
From your dollar to a living tree in the ground — here's the whole journey.
A single dollar funds a sapling for reforestation around the globe. Larger gifts plant 15-gallon shade trees — watered and cared for through their first months — in Houston neighborhoods.
Alongside partners like Trees For Houston and the California Conservation Corps, we put the right native trees in the right places — from city lots to entire hillsides.
Each mature tree absorbs 48 lbs of CO2 a year, cools streets, filters stormwater, and makes greener blocks healthier, calmer places to live.

The Tree Canopy Project
Wealthy neighborhoods have 65% more shade than the poorest communities. In Historic Freedman's Town, more than 90% of homes were built on lots without a single tree. We're combating the heat with trees — planting free 15-gallon natives like Red Oak, Mexican White Oak, and Red Maple on homeowners' property, each one sited to avoid foundations and utilities. No cost to participants.

Carbon credits
Trees take years to grow — certified carbon credits work today. Tree Peace retires Verra- and Gold Standard-certified credits on your behalf, so your unavoidable emissions fund forestry, methane capture, and renewable energy projects.
A note from the founders
“It shouldn't be hard for individuals or businesses to make a positive social impact in your community — or around the world.”
In 2020, a group of individuals who are passionate about the environment began laying the groundwork for this organization. A year later, we became a 501(c)3.
Tree Peace is a nonprofit organization empowering others to plant trees and promote environmental sustainability in underserved neighborhoods — and with your support, we can keep giving back for generations to come.

“I work in the building materials industry and I'm just trying to create awareness — and maybe even a conversation. Great cause and a great hat, thanks!”
“This shirt is heavenly! I absolutely love the lightweight material — and every purchase plants trees.”

customer@tree-peace.orgTree Peace is a 501(c)3 tax-exempt organization and your donation is tax-deductible within the guidelines of U.S. law. TAX ID # 86-3356671. If you did not receive your tax-deductible receipt, please email customer@tree-peace.org — we would be happy to send you another one.
For every dollar received we aim to spend 90% on tree planting projects. The other 10% is dedicated to fundraising activities and administrative costs (website maintenance & advertisement).
The price varies by project. Reforestation projects are typically priced at $1 per tree sapling, which we plant at a target density of 2,000 trees per hectare. For community tree planting we focus on larger trees — on average 15-gallon trees — which can cost up to $250 per tree depending on location and time of year, because we also factor in the cost to water and maintain the tree for its first two months.
It's wonderful to hear you want to join the forest restoration movement! If you'd like to become a partner, write to customer@tree-peace.org. Don't forget to share your estimated budget and let us know if you plan a one-time or recurring contribution. Reforestation is a long-term enterprise, and benefits from long-term commitments!
We accept all payments by Visa, Mastercard, and American Express. We even accept crypto via Coinbase.
Companies and individuals can compensate their CO2 footprint with trees. To discuss your options, send an email to customer@tree-peace.org. Please note that this is not suitable for immediate neutrality or offsetting, since the trees require many years to grow — for immediate neutrality, see our carbon credits.
Trees are a unique way to celebrate somebody you love. Anyone can donate trees on our website or by emailing customer@tree-peace.org. We will issue a certificate for you, should you need one for a gift.
When you purchase carbon credits from Tree Peace, we buy the carbon offsets on your behalf and retire them from the market so they can't be traded or resold. By retiring them, we ensure the reductions are permanent — they can never be used by another entity as a permit to pollute. You never actually take ownership of the carbon offsets themselves.
